   A connective ending used when the speaker anticipates and assumes a certain situation of which some conditions are met, but the following content is not so.

   어떤 조건이 갖추어진 상황을 기대하며 가정하지만 뒤에 오는 말이 나타내는 실제 상황은 그렇지 않음을 나타내는 연결 어미.

   ※ ‘ㄹ’을 제외한 받침 있는 동사와 형용사 또는 ‘-었-’ 뒤에 붙여 쓴다.

Examples

• 그런 일이 정말 생긴다면 춤이라도 추련마는 그럴 가능성이 거의 없잖아.

  If that really happened, I'd even dance, but there's almost no chance of it.

• 힌트를 주면 문제의 답이 뭔지 알아차리련마는 도저히 답이 생각나지 않는다.

  If you gave me a hint, I'd probably figure out the answer, but I just can't think of it at all.

• 네가 여유가 있다면 지금 밥상을 차리련마는 가 봐야 된다고 하니 밥도 못 먹이겠네.

  If you had time to spare, I'd set the table right now, but since you say you have to go, I can't even feed you.

• 약속 시간이 많이 남았으면 근처의 찻집이라도 들어가련마는 시간이 어정쩡하게 남았다.

  If there were plenty of time left before our appointment, I'd go into a nearby tea house, but there's an awkward amount of time left.

• 날씨가 화창했으면 소풍을 갔으련마는 비가 와서 못 갔네.

  If the weather had been nice, we would have gone on the picnic, but it rained, so we couldn't.

• 너도 우리랑 같이 여행을 가면 좋으련마는 같이 못 가서 아쉽다.

  It would be nice if you could come travel with us too, but it's a shame you can't.
