Attaches to a verb stem to show that an action stops partway and changes into another ('while doing X, Y happened instead'), that something occurs while an action is still in progress, or that the first action causes the second; repeated as '-다가 -다가' it shows things alternating.

Jisu was listening to what he was saying, and partway through she got angry.
그는 과식을 하다가 배탈이 나고 말았다.
He overate and ended up with a stomachache.
