   An expression used to indicate that the following situation will occur, regardless of the preceding situation.

   앞에 오는 말이 나타내는 상황에 상관없이 뒤에 오는 말이 나타내는 상황이 일어남을 나타내는 표현.

   ※ ‘있다’, ‘없다’, ‘계시다’나 ‘있다’, ‘없다’로 끝나는 형용사, 동사 또는 ‘-으시-’, ‘-었-’, ‘-겠-’ 뒤에 붙여 쓴다.

Examples

• 그 선수는 키가 작은데도 점프를 잘해서 덩크 슛으로 득점을 많이 해요.

  Even though that player is short, he jumps well and scores a lot with dunks.

• 가구를 잘 배치해서 사실은 방이 좁은데도 넓어 보인다.

  The furniture is arranged so well that, even though the room is actually small, it looks spacious.

• 지수는 숙제가 많은데도 집에 오자마자 텔레비전 앞에 앉아 있어.

  Even though Jisu has a lot of homework, she sits in front of the TV as soon as she gets home.

• 요즘은 학력이 높은데도 취업이 안 되는 사람이 많대요 워낙 취업하기가 어렵다 보니 그렇겠지요.

  These days there are apparently a lot of people who can't find jobs even though they're highly educated. That's probably because it's just so hard to get hired.

• 날씨가 흐려서 낮인데도 어둡다.

  The sky is overcast, so even though it's daytime, it's dark.

• 그 학생은 집이 먼데도 늘 학교에 가장 먼저 와 있다.

  Even though that student lives far away, they're always the first one at school.
