   An expression used to indicate that a certain act or state has been added to its preceding act or state, making it worse or better.

   앞에 오는 말이 나타내는 행동이나 상태에 다른 행동이나 상태가 덧붙여져서 정도가 더 심해짐을 나타내는 표현.

   ※ 앞에 오는 말과 뒤에 오는 말의 주어가 같을 때, ‘있다’, ‘없다’, ‘계시다’나 ‘있다’, ‘없다’로 끝나는 형용사, 동사 또는 '-으시-' 뒤에 붙여 쓴다.

• 나는 최근 운동을 시작한 데다가 식이 요법도 해서 건강이 좋아지고 있다.

  I recently started exercising, and on top of that I'm dieting too, so my health is improving.

• 민준이는 졸린 데다가 고속 도로가 너무 막혀서 휴게소에서 좀 쉬기로 했다.

  Yeongsu caught a cold, and on top of that he had a fever, so he went to the hospital.

• 승규는 잘생긴 데다가 성격도 좋아서 인기가 많다.

  Seunggyu is handsome, and on top of that he has a great personality, so he's very popular.

• 김치는 매운 데다가 마늘 냄새가 강해서 외국인이 싫어할 수도 있다.

  Kimchi is spicy, and on top of that it has a strong garlic smell, so foreigners might dislike it.
