   A postpositional particle used when accepting the preceding content while also stating a question about it, a situation that contradicts to it, etc.

   앞의 내용을 인정하면서도 그 내용에 대한 의문이나 그와 어긋나는 상황 등을 말할 때 쓰는 조사.

Examples

• 나는 아직 그를 실제로 본 적이 없지마는 글을 보면 그가 좋은 사람일 것이라는 생각이 든다.

  I've never actually met him, but reading his writing, I get the sense he must be a good person.

• 네가 대학에 합격했다는 얘기는 들었다마는 내가 바빠서 미처 축하해 주지를 못했구나.

  I heard you got into college, but I was too busy to congratulate you in time.

• 이 정도 돈이 너한테 얼마나 도움이 되겠냐마는 그래도 가지고 가라.

  I don't know how much help this bit of money will be to you, but take it anyway.

• 이번 공모전에서 재능이 있는 신인 화가들을 발견하셨나요?

  Did you discover any talented new painters in this contest?

• 많은 신인 화가들이 작품을 응모했지마는 아쉽게도 눈에 띄는 작품은 없었어요.

  Many new painters submitted works, but unfortunately none really stood out.

• 나는 아직 그를 실제로 본 적이 없지마는 글을 보면 그가 좋은 사람일 것이라는 생각이 든다.

  I've never actually met him, but reading his writing, I get the sense he must be a good person.
