Meanings

1. 1

   An expression used to state that one does only one act without doing anything else.

   다른 행동은 하지 않고 오직 한 가지 행동만을 함을 나타내는 표현.

   ※ 동사 뒤에 붙여 쓴다.

2. 2

   An expression used to indicate that a certain state is continued regardless of another situation related to a certain subject or to stress that state.

   다른 상황과는 관계없이 어떤 상태가 지속되고 있음을 말하거나 그 상태를 강조할 때 쓰는 표현.

   ※ 형용사 뒤에 붙여 쓴다.

• 승규는 묻는 말에는 대답하지 않고 웃기만 했다.

  Seunggyu didn't answer the question and just kept smiling.

• 집 앞에 있는 빵집을 늘 지나치기만 하다가 오늘은 들러서 빵을 좀 사 봤다.

  I always just walked past the bakery in front of my house, but today I stopped by and bought some bread.

• 아이들의 웃는 얼굴은 보기만 해도 행복해진다.

  Just seeing children's smiling faces makes me happy.

• 뭘 이런 걸 다 가지고 오셨어요? 매번 받기만 하는 것 같아서 미안해서 먹을 거라도 나눠 먹으려고요.

  Why did you bring all this? I felt bad always just receiving things, so I wanted to share some food.

• 아직 초보인 지수에게 운전은 어렵기만 하다.

  For Jisu, who is still a beginner, driving is just plain difficult.

• 이사 온 집은 아직 나에게 낯설기만 했다.

  The house I moved into still just felt unfamiliar to me.
